Welcome to Belly Dance by Juanita!

Belly dance is believed to have originated as part of ancient cultures. The dance & music evolved due to various influences, such as the mingling of women from different lands in harems, & as the Gypsies (Roma) traveled from India, through Central Asia, Egypt, the Middle East, North Africa, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Russia & the rest of Europe. The roots of Belly Dance are the same as for Middle Eastern Dance, but what most of what we see here in America have a blending of our own culture.

From the shores of ancient lands, the dance comes to the shores of Pensacola, Florida.

Juanita has performed in the Pensacola area for several years and often dances with Saraab Middle Eastern Belly Dance Troupe. Repertoires include Middle Eastern and Belly Dance styles including Egyptian, Turkish, Moorish & Gypsy (Rom) influenced styles. Some of the performance music, costumes & choreographies are based on tradition & others are more contemporary.

They have performed for several public events such as the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival, Pensacola Jr. College International Night, First Night Pensacola, University of West Florida Festival on the Green, public schools, fundraisers, various festivals, renaissance festivals, international & cultural events. Private events include birthday celebrations, dinner parties, conventions, reunions, bridal parties & wedding celebrations.
